With shoulder injuries and other kind of injuries floating around on the women's side, the seeds are all over the place. This plays out well for tennis fans because it seems top players go up against one another early in the week.
Top seed Caroline Wozniacki picked up one of the bad stick when she was given Maria Sharapova on her side. She might also have to take down Na Li and Jelena Jankovic to get through.
Defending champ Kim Clijsters got a little break though she will still have to get past Samantha Stosur in the quarterfinals. The Belgian was presented at the draw ceremony and said she will get her medical checkup for the hip after the tournament ends.
"Practicing this week, it felt much better," Clijster said. "Even if it's bad, it's not like I'm not going to play the US Open. If it still bothers me after the Open, I will go get it tested."
