While it is good news that US Open champ Juan MD Potro is picking up the racket again after his wrist surgery, the bad news is the defending champ might not be ready to defend his title. Even though the USTA said in a statement Del Potro is on the entry list and is expected to play, the Argentine's camp is pulling down the curtain on the news.
"Nothing is sure," Diego Rivas, Del Potro's trainer, said. "The goal is to return in Bangkok."
The Thailand Open begins on Sept. 27. Right now I would personally favor that date than the US Open, but even that date might be too premature at this point since Del Potro himself said "I still haven't picked up a racket,..This is why I can't set an exact date."
