Del Potro: On The List...But Still Pondering

Even though Juan Martin Del Potro's name is still on the entry list for the US Open, the reigning champ has no idea when he will returns to the tennis courts. This is not good news because no player will defend a title without some warm-up tournaments, especially, a slam.

Del Potro will likely withdraw from the tournament citing not enough matches, even if he is to be ready to hit some balls by then. This is just a guesstimate, but maybe he will come back to play just to get some matches in.

It would be strange since no reigning champ wants to exit first round (high probability) but the Argentine could love tennis enough to bypass that thought altogether.

Nadal Enters Thailand Open

World number one Rafael Nadal has entered the Thailand Open which starts in September. Along with Nadal, US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro has also entered, organizers said Thursday.

The tournament is slighted for Sept. 4-Oct. 3 at the Bangkok's Impact Arena. Del Potro has not played all year since the Australian Open due to surgery.

“This year with my health and body in good shape, I am really looking forward to playing some great tennis for the Thai fans,” Nadal said in a statement.

US Open: Entries Are In

All of the top 99 women on the WTA Tour have sent in their entries to the US Open in a couple of weeks. They get direct entry into the tournament based on their rankings.

The only one missing from the list is of course Justine Henin. The one questionable attendee is Serena Williams.

Now words yet on whether Serena will be able to compete with her foot surgery.

Serena Strikes Again

Serena Williams won Australian Open then got injured and missed a couple of weeks until the clay season. Now that she has won Wimbledon, Serena will once again be missing a couple of weeks after getting injured.

Just when you think women tennis couldn't get any crazier, it just did with Serena and her injury. First Justine Henin fell down and injured her arm and will miss the whole US hardcourt season, now it looks like Serena will miss the whole World Team Tennis season after cutting the bottom of her foot.

No one knows how exactly that happens, and not eve her publicist knows what happened.

I'll put in $20 puts and say Serena will get injured after the US Open wraps up.

US Open's Prize Money Up Again

The US Open is once again upping its prize money this year with the singles champion from both the men and women taking home $1.7 million. This is a lot of money for two week worth of work in the sun and heat.

The winner can also pocket an additional $1 million if s/he also wins the US Open series.

I need some of this money to renovate the courts across from my house.

Serbia vs. Croatia: Davis Cup

This weekend is Davis Cup time and Serbia and Croatia will be going up against one another. As you might already know, the two countries don't really like each other.

Nevertheless, it will be all tennis when the players take on the court. As for the fans, that might be another thing altogether.

The two will be playing in Croatia and the winning team will go into the semifinal. Even though Serbia might have a little advantage with Novak Djokovic, Croatia is not too worried about it with Marin Cilic on the side.

Serena's Serve Best Women's Tennis

Serena Williams' serve is the best weapon women's tennis has to offer...ever! Her Wimbledon win this year prove she is the best player ever. Of course, different time means different racket and technology, so if Serena existed in the olden days of tennis, she probably won't be able to hit 120mph serve with a wooden racket.

In tennis, the serve is the number one weapon you need and if you don't have it, then you're dead. Serena has the serve on her side and she can easily get out of trouble time and again with the big serve.

If Serena's serve holds up and she can avoid injuries, she can easily win more slams until she decided to retire from tennis. She might even win another 12 slams from now until that day when she says No More.
