Dementieva Ends Career At 29
Russian Elena Dementieva got a tearful farewell today after announcing her retirement from tennis at the age of 29. Dementieva reached two finals in her career at the 2004 French and US Open.
She lost both finals to her fellow Russians, Anastasia Myskina and Svetlana Kuznetsova, respectively. Dementieva reached the semifinals of Wimbledon and US Open also.
I remember the first time I saw Elena was in 2000 when she lost to Venus Williams at the Sydney Olympics. Really thought she would have a stellar career the way she played.
In some degree, beside being of the best women tennis players ever to not have won a Grand Slam, the Russian has had a great career. Her serve was the main weapon stopping her from winning that final match at the slam finals.
I don't see a comeback for Elena unless she works out her serve and decides to come back in her mid 30's or something. This is a very small chance though.
Wish her well and she will be greatly missed!

End of Season...Loads of Injuries
You know the end of the season is here ad players are falling left and right with injuries. Justine Henin ended her season then Venus Williams then Svetlana Kusnetsova and probably Serena Williams too.
A bunch of other players have also been hit with injuries and end of season tired mode it seems. Refael Nadal has not played well enough since winning the US Open.
Just lots of tired people working hard to see the end of the 2010 tennis season.
