Stosur Saves Math Points To Advance

Since the French Open, Samantha Stosur has been having a bit of a letdown like Francesca Schiavone. She found herself in quite a struggle and some scary moment yesterday in her second round against Sara Errani.

The Aussie was up a set, 6-1, when things fell apart for her. Stosur lost the second set and had to save four match points before advancing in the tiebreak in the third set.

“I just tried to hang in there and eventually got through that game, and once I won that then I knew that I was in a good spot,” Stosur said.

She added she has not been able to practice her serve much since injuring her right arm, which caused her to skip Cincinnati and Montreal.

“I actually hadn’t hit more than about 30 serves in any practice session yet, so it was a good test for it tonight, and it was all good,” she said.

The Aussie no. 1 has also announced she will be playing in Brisbane next year.

"With any luck I will get the chance to be there on the final day of the tournament and be the first Aussie champion of the Brisbane international," Stosur said.
