Two years ago, both Ana Ivanovic and Dinara Safina were at the top of their games and both met in the final of the French Open. Ivanovic prevailed and won her maiden slam in 2008.
It has been quite a fall for both of them since then. The two have been practicing together and hanging out on and off the courts, but it was not like this before as Safina admitted during a press conference last week in Cincinnati.
"The funny thing is, we've been so long on the Tour and we never really talked with each other," Safina said. "I knew she'd been going through some tough moments, but I didn't know her… I felt she was much more protected, or closed."
Both girls are not enjoying the company of each other and go out to dinner once in a while.
"We practiced and it was like, Okay, so let's go for dinner," said Safina. "We went for dinner, and really she's a very nice girl. We had so much fun. She's playing much better, and I just wish her really good luck."
