It was a bad day for everyone with the rain and wind in Washington, D.C., but it only got worst for Andy Roddick playing at 11pm last night and got French toasted by Gilles Simon. Roddick lost, 6-3, 6-3, after 4.5 hour of delay.
“It was just a bad night,” Roddick said. “I don’t really have any defense for it. I didn’t feel right physically. I didn’t feel right mentally. I wish I had answers for you right now, but I just don’t. (But) I promise you, I’m going to figure this out before I do that again.”
Simon joked that after two straight-set losses to Roddick, the Frenchman was able to finally tackle down the American's serve this time to win.
Other winners included Tomas Berdych, Fernando Verdasco, and David Nalbandian.
