Former US Open champ Juan MD Potro has won his first match since coming back from surgery. The Argentine defeated Feliciano Lopez of Spain in three tough sets, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, to advance to the second round of the Sydney International.
You can call this somewhat of a revenge match because Del Potro lost to Lopez last year in Tokyo. The Argentine made a late comeback last year and played in Bangkok and Tokyo where he lost in the first round of both tournaments.
Del Potro will try to win as many matches as possible in preparation to the Australian Open in two weeks.
